Proposal Ideas

Animatronic Dancing man

Concept: Create a Animatronic dancing man that doesn't require control wires.

Objectives:

-Dancing man will perform a predetermine routine

-routine will be programmed on a control board on the figure

-Get a go signal to start

-Will get it through contacts on the bottom side of the figure

-signal will be start signal only

-once started the figure will not stop unless a stop command is given

-After the routine is complete the dancing man will return to the start position

-if time, program an e-stop to where the figure returns home in case of emergency

-wifi or Bluetooth signal to have the figure stop

Motor Arm Control

Concept: The biggest concern with anything robotic that moves is wiring. How you route wires can make the difference between a successful robot, or one that tears itself apart. What if you didn't have to worry about the routing of wires? What if you can change parts with the simple disconnect of a breaker? Can you make it so robot parts are changed out in minutes vs hours of re-wiring and reconnecting pieces?

The short answer is yes. The purpose behind this project is to demonstrate a new concept of using electromagnets and canbus signals to make this possible.

Objectives:

-create a 4 motor system that parts can be changed out within minutes

                -simple proof of concept functions:

                                -wrist up and down

                                -hand close

                                -elbow

                                -Upper arm

-create a way to communicate through terminals that are connected once parts are changed out

-Spring loaded contacts that connect when new part is twisted on

-create a way to engage and disengage electromagnets to be able to remove certain parts of the robotic arm

-have a control system in place to help with everything

-*note* success of this project is to have 4 'joints' that can be disconnected and reconnected through the disengagement of electromagnets. At each of these joints will be a motor that will preform simple function of moving 180 degrees. Each motor will be independent of the others.

Hiking Drone

Concept: Create a low weight drone that can assist hikers. When hikers choose trails deep in the woods away from communicative sources they are on their own. The problem is that when they get lost, there is no way to know where along a trail they are. The drone will help with that. This drone will send a pulse that can be sensed at the nearest ranger station, giving a ping. in the case of emergency it can navigate and fly above the tree line to give a wide-burst pulse. the ranger station can see this pulse and be able to send help in the general area.

Objectives:

-find a way for a drone to maintain power levels over a two week period

-create a drone that is lightweight enough for a hiker to carry(*might have this as a secondary*)

-have a way to create a pulse that can be detected through non-communicate areas

-create a program that allows the drone to maneuver through woods to deliver an emergency pulse

-create a receiver that would be stationed at the ranger station.
